NDP and GDF (and Anglo-Saxon runes, too!)

Wow, it's already National Day, isn't it? I can't believe it's been so fast since I left NAS.... Huh, 46 years of our being independent. I'm so proud to be Singaporean! XD Although it sounds unbelievably cheesy when I say it out loud.....

TP had its National Day Celebrations yesterday, and Theatro (TP's drama club, it's not really surprising that I've entered Drama again) performed as part of the concert-skit thing that was put up XD Can you believe we were almost cut from performing at all, though? So unfair! >:( It's always the Drama Club that has to suffer most for our art... Rantings aside, I think we did really great! I was acting as a Malay girl in the 1850s, and borrowed Ain's baju as a costume. It fit well, seeing as we're pretty much equal in height. And we had to put stage makeup. Yep, even the guys! Haha!! {evil laughter} For those who aren't too sure, stage makeup is pretty much heavy makeup times ten. Something like that. We had so much fun taking pictures with everyone else! Some of us looked so pale, and yet others looked as though they had really bad fake tans on their faces. For me? The bronzer caked onto my cheekbones made my cheeks look black, and my eyes looked scary fierce. But still, fun much! XD I asked my friends to help me snap a few shots and so now they're saved in my phone, memories of my first performance as a Theatro member. :)

Nobody said anything about our acting (I swear actors are so unappreciated), but that hardly mattered since we all felt that we rocked marshmallows :D Even if no one was to say that we acted fine, our seniors all said that our acting was superb, and we juniors congratulated the seniors on their awesome acting too XD

Well after the performance I rushed off to GDF tutorial with Joceline after waiting for her to finish lunch (I skipped lunch, since I wasn't hungry. Plus, I wanna lose some weight...). We had to remove some of the makeup (going to class with black cheeks is never a good idea) since as Nikki put it, it had a rather "drag queen look" to it. {Shudders} Anyhoo, we had to present our menus and sketches to the class and tutor, and I presented mine.... Well, I felt that my menu didn't look half bad, plus I'm proud of the fact that I used runes in the design. For those who don't know how weird I am, I love stuff like runic symbols, elements (I mean Earth, Air, Water, Fire and the like, not the periodic table) and fantasy stuff. Yup, I'm one of those geek/nerds who sometimes wish they could be living in a fantasy world instead. Go figure. Even if I get another big, fat F for GDF, who cares. I've never been the sort for graphic design anyway. If you ask me, I prefer to use words to create art. I mean, don't you think that words can be so magical, especially if used the right way?

Anyway. Here's the name I created for the restaurant menu, using somewhat-modified Anglo-Saxon runes. Check it out! If you don't like it, it's okay. Not everyone thinks the same way, after all! ^.^
