Terrible Reviews: Again, this turned out longer than I expected it to be
So I finally quit working for my aunt and resumed my societal status as jobless soon-to-be-university-student effective last Friday. I still feel kind of guilty about leaving just when the office was getting busier with closing and all, but when even your colleague tells you that you should run, don't worry she'll be okay... You run.
The school's Orientation Day (though can you really call it a Day if it's only two hours?) is on the 25th, and classes start the next day. I'm nervous as hell, but here's hoping that things turn out alright - I've learned my lesson from TP.
I still have a week or two before classes start, so I've been trying to catch up on the anime series that I've been missing out on - it's been torture seeing all the photo and gifsets on Tumblr and somewhat getting the gist of the series while being unable to catch them because I needed to sleep, ugh.
Click here to read the previous listing (and short description) of anime I've watched before. I'm no critic, mind you - these are just my thoughts.
COMPLETED:
Kuroshitsuji
This was another classic that I took my time to watch (D.Gray Man would be the other classic), and well... I regret not watching this earlier, honestly.
It's dark and yet funny at times, and sometimes you feel so frustrated watching it but it's all good. Don't bother with season 2 though, that was bad.
The live-action movie was thoroughly disappointing as well, don't bother with that either.
I should start watching Book of Circus (KUROSHITSUJI NEW SEASON YES LET'S HOPE IT'S BETTER THAN 2), but I'm a little reluctant to because I read somewhere that it's nothing but a huge mindfuck for those who haven't read the manga...
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
This was interesting to watch! Adapted from the visual novel/game (I can't tell the difference), so I think the plot of the anime and game are about the same. The anime uses some cut scenes from the game itself though, and the difference in animation makes it pretty cool (and maybe a little too exaggerated at times, but who's complaining).
I hear season 2's coming out, though I'm not sure when exactly - looking forward to it!
Psycho Pass (Season 2 out October)
I don't usually do well with futuristic settings, but it was easy enough even for me to understand and enjoy.
Easy doesn't mean boring, though - I liked the storyline, and some parts had me thinking for quite a while.
The only thing I didn't like about this was how important it seemed for people to stay calm and not let anything affect their Psycho Pass - I got it, but it still seemed like a load of bull to me because I didn't believe in the system.
I especially loved the music used in Psycho Pass, you've got to give it a try.
CURRENTLY WATCHING:
Tokyo Ghoul (Ongoing)
I have to say, I tried this only because of Tumblr - have you even SEEN the fanart?
/dies/
But well, it's an ongoing series, and I really should focus on reading the manga instead of only the anime (but I'm so lazy to sigh). It's fantastic though, I strongly recommend this.
Haikyuu! (Ongoing)
This is another series where I should be focusing on the manga, really...
Seeing how it's a sports anime I'm guessing the plot's going to be kind of cliché, but what do I know, I've only ever really watched PoT. It's really good though, and it's fun to see how they balance light-hearted moments with serious ones.
The problem with me is that I keep looking at the schools the same way I did for PoT, so my watching of this series involves a lot of crying and "AREN'T THEY LIKE HYOTEI OMG AND THE OTHER SCHOOL IS LIKE FUDOMINE LOOK AT THE RIVALRY LOOK AT HOW PERFECT THEY ARE OMG WHY".
I swear, I've never been this into volleyball.
Free! Eternal Summer (Ongoing)
It's funny how I've been procrastinating on watching this especially since I was the one who said I couldn't wait to watch it... It's not bad, especially since the series seems to deal with more problems than it did in the first season. We're seeing less light-hearted and more seriousness here, I kind of like it!
I still don't really know why I'm watching Free! though, I don't really consider myself a part of the fandom the way I do SnK or PoT. Still, it's refreshing - maybe that's why I like it.
I feel you, Gou...
I feel you.
Sword Art Online II (Ongoing)
This... I have no words, honestly. I'm actually trying to force myself to watch this for the sake of watching it, because... Well... It's bad.
I was already unimpressed with how they decided to switch things up and introduce Gun Gale Online (GGO), mostly because where's the fun in everything if you're just going to use guns now? Swords were so much better (plus don't guns kind of defeat the purpose of calling it SWORD Art Online in the first place??).
Plus the Kirito harem seems to make its comeback, though I can't really tell seeing how I couldn't even get through the first episode - I will never get over the anger of seeing a strong character like Asuna reduced to being Kirito's perfect girlfriend/waifu.
I really don't know if I should try to watch this, because I did like the idea of SAO when I first tried it out - maybe I could stay for the plot idea..?
DRAMAtical Murder
This one I decided to try also because of Tumblr - didn't know what I was getting into but hey, it looked good.
This is what happens when I don't do my research on the series that I want to watch, really...
I couldn't quite get what was going on (I'm currently on episode 3 and nothing is making sense), so I went to check Wikipedia.
Apparently it's adapted from a BL visual novel.
Great.
Oh well, at least it's pretty... And it still seems interesting.
INTENDING TO WATCH:
Zankyou no Terror
UPDATE: IT'S SO GOOD SOMEONE HOLD ME. I'm completely in love with this series, and it's the first time I felt disappointed that it wasn't an adaptation of a manga because that means I really do have to wait for the next episode to air ughhhh. No spoilers, but Twelve and Nine (especially Twelve) are so precious to me oh dear. Watching this makes me think of Death Note, but more explosive - literally.
Black Bullet
Black Rock Shooter
Kuroko no Basuke
(Yes Kira, I'm finally getting into it)
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS LIKE WE ACTUALLY SEE SOME LEAKED CAST PHOTOS AND AHHHH OH GOD IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING PLEASE DON'T LET THIS BE A DISAPPOINTMENT PLEASE OH PLEASE
