251116 - AFA 2016
It's that time of year again - that's right, I'm talking about AFA. This year's AFA takes place over the weekend (25-27 November) but I was only able to attend the Friday event because the weekend is absolutely packed for me.
The thing about cosplaying at events like these is that you get so used to cosplaying after a while that attending an event like this without cosplay feels a little odd and truthfully more than a little boring - this was the reason why I was so conflicted when Kira told me she didn't feel like cosplaying for this year's AFA. I was tempted to just go without cosplay, but then decided against it - attending a cosfest just wouldn't feel the same if I wasn't in cosplay.
I'd initially planned to cosplay as San from Mononoke Hime again, but then remembered that I'd worked on some props for Misa with a friend last year - I'd forgotten about them when I started working on San's costume, and so I felt that AFA would be the perfect time to give the costume and props for Misa a good whirl.
So as usual Kira played my partner-in-crime, as well as my pair of arms for the day since walking around with arm blades was all very well but actually using my hands and arms sure as hell wasn't:
AFA was really quite packed, and it was really fun walking around to see the different wares being sold - I was incredibly tempted by the keychains on sale because I just can't resist small cute trinkets. Naturally, half the fun of the cosfest was in identifying as many characters as possible:
It was really fun to hang around the AFA exhibition area again, and it was nice to see the guest cosplayers and performers too. I think the below picture was the highlight of the day, though - I grabbed my death note the moment I saw him, and truthfully we also attracted a fair amount of people who were in on the joke.

I basically looked like this- can you see the similarities?
I was super excited to try this look out for Misa!

Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir - they were such an adorable couple!
T.K. and Patamon - I geeked out for a full five minutes over the Patamon because it was so cute ugh.
He told me he got the Patamon from a budget sale in Japan like what a bargain????
I also found another Misa - was so happy to see another cosplayer for the same character!
The huge Animax cat mascot was adorable too, really, and so friendly!

Tick tock, Mr Trump.
