Cosplay Comics Black Market

So we did it - after going to cosplay convention after cosplay convention and feeling jealous of admiring all the cosplayers who were brave enough to show their appreciation for their favourite anime/manga/game characters in public, Kira and I finally decided to try cosplaying on our own. Why not, right?

It was a lot more difficult than we expected, to be honest - she went as Erza from Fairy Tail and I as Misa from Death Note.

Erza from Fairy Tail.

Misa from Death Note.

The costumes were easy enough, but it was more difficult than expected to put everything together - for Kira, she had to rush to prepare her costume details while I struggled with makeup and accessories.

Both of us had trouble with our wigs - we'd never even tried wearing one before and as such, we had quite a bit of fun (amid much swearing) trying to wear and tame our wigs to make them look more natural.

The end result - tadaa!

The funny thing about cosplay is that it always looks so damned easy until you try it for yourself - you really do need loads of practice to get it right, especially if you want your character to be as perfect and accurate as possible.

It's all worth it though, especially when people ask to take your photo or if they can take a photo with you. That's when you really feel proud of yourself, when you feel that hey, even if it's only your first time, you did a good enough job that people recognise you and want to take a photo with you.

Before wig and makeup...

And after wig and makeup!
Makes a whole lot of a difference huh?

We went to Funan for Anime Matsuri yesterday, since Kira said there would be quite a few cosplayers there. It was supposed to be a good way to see how our cosplays would hold up before we tried going to the Cosplay Comics Black Market at RWS today. Unfortunately, I don't want to put those photos up because it was our first time trying to cosplay, and the results were less than perfect in my opinion... I wasn't too happy with my performance yesterday.

However, I'll happily admit that I'm quite proud with how we looked for today, especially since we had had some practice with our costumes. These are the pictures I'll put up.

I'm exhausted, so I'll be putting only photos up here (I'm still wondering if I should put them on Facebook..? They're mostly photos of me after all sigh, who wants to see that...) and maaaaaaybe a few captions.

Two paperbag-men-things and Misa.
(Holy shit, I'm really that short..?!)

Misa and Sasha Braus from SNK.

Bad photo quality, but Misa joined Levi-heichou's cleaning squad for a bit today.
"Offer your hearts up to humanity... And cleaning!"

I'm still waiting for Kira to send me the photos from her side... And also because you're not sure how to pose as your character, you tend to have your own photoshoots where no one else can see you and cringe at how bad you look while figuring things out.

But some photos turned out really well, credits to Kira for being such a patient photographer!

I'll add more when I'm in the office tomorrow, and will be posting more photos when Kira sends me the rest. Till then... Goodnight!
