Taking the bus home today. I don't usually do so, preferring to take the train since it's a faster mode of transport (although a lot more crowded). The bus just kind of winds around and takes its time to reach your destination.

Personally speaking, I love taking the bus, and it's a luxury I allow myself every once in a while. Its not just about the fact that it takes so long to bring me home, though - it's the fact that it's an adventure. In a train, you know exactly where you need to go, and you get there in the shortest time possible.

In a bus, though... So many possibilities are open to you. The single or double-decked monstrosity just trundles along the roads, and it forces you to look at everything along the way before you finally arrive at your destination. It's like it's saying hey, look at all this. Doesn't it make you want to forget about where you were going? Don't you feel like you want to stay here, where it feels like a bubble of bliss where time doesn't move?

Passengers come and go, and almost every stop feels slightly overwhelming, like you have to greet every person who comes in and somehow bid farewell to everyone who leaves, too.

Being in a quiet bus with nothing for personal company except your music and your thoughts is quite an addictive feeling - I feel like I'm watching a movie of sorts as each thought presents itself to me.

I quite like where I am now. It's lonely, but it's peaceful too, and there aren't any illusions of love or other such distractions.

Of course the peace is an illusion too, but it's one I'll leave alone for now.

In the central area now - luxury and wealth tower over us, reminding us of the elusive dream we somehow insist on chasing. How much of this dream transforms into reality, and how much of it remains a fantasy?

On a side note, I'd really like to visit the Botanical Gardens again - I haven't been in years, and I'm itching to take a few shots there if I get the chance. I'm not a great photographer, but I do try sometimes. I don't want to go alone, though - I'll need to see if any good friends are free to hang out on one of the days when I don't have to worry so much about schoolwork.

It's overwhelmingly hot today - huge difference from yesterday, when we all harboured hopes that the sudden drop in temperature meant we could break out the long sleeves and declare the beginning of Sweater Weather. Who we're trying to kid I don't know - it's Singapore after all, and all we have is Summer.
