Morning

We know that I'm not a big fan of Starbucks.
Let's get this straight - it's not that I don't like Starbucks, it's just that it makes me uncomfortable.
The coffee's good, sure, but I don't like the atmosphere in the cafes.
They're not as quiet as CBTL or other coffee places where almost no one goes.
And I get intimidated by the people in there - they all know exactly what they want.

For me, I'm more of a
"Holiday brew? What's that? Is it good? What can you recommend for me?"
kind of person.
I like talking to people and getting to know them, and I like it when people talk to me to get to know me.
And as far as coffee goes, I stick by my staple - mocha - but I'll definitely try something different as long as you can get me interested in it.

Which is why I get turned off (for lack of a better word) by Starbucks.
Everyone's so...
IWANTATALLDOUBLECHOCOLATEMOCHACCINOSOYNOWHIPTOGO
and I'm just like... Huh?

Wait! I want to look at the menu...
And before I know it, it's my turn and I end up ordering a mocha before I can decide to maybe try something different this time.
It doesn't help that I don't really dare to ask the staff what he or she can recommend, either.

But this time...

I walked into the Starbucks near the school because I really needed a coffee (preferably a strong one) before having to spend all day in snoozeville.
Add to that the fact that I'm most likely staying in the library after classes and you'll have the reason why I really need that coffee.
Plus I had received a Starbucks tumbler from my friends for my birthday and wanted to try getting a coffee to go with that tumbler.

So in I went, feeling as though someone would pop out of nowhere and yell:
"SHE'S NOT A FAN OF STARBUCKS!"
and everyone would gasp and faint.
(Yeah, my overactive imagination isn't exactly my best friend when it comes to such situations)

But I made it to the counter and managed to ask the cashier how the tumbler thing worked, and he patiently explained it to me (the crowd hadn't quite started coming in just yet).
He then asked me what coffee I wanted.

Oh dear.

I told him I wanted a mocha, and he took it down before asking me:
"Is this your regular order?"
Er.

I sheepishly told him that I didn't come to Starbucks often, and wasn't too used to it.
His immediate answer?
"Oh, don't worry - we'll get you used to it!"
followed by a grin.
And then "I'll see you soon!" with a wink.

Erm.
Are all Starbucks staff this friendly?

But that confidence though.
It's always the confidence that catches my eye.
Well, at least I had a pretty good start to the day.
And the coffee isn't all bad either.
*sips*
